Labor and delivery nurses have one of the best jobs in the world. They get to experience the miracle of life every single day. They get to participate in one of the most intimate moments in life. Not only do they get to help a mother through a very grueling process, but they also get to see the beautiful result of that hardship.

- Monitor the baby’s heart rate and mother’s blood pressure
- Time contractions
- Identify and assist with complications
- Help administer medications and epidurals
- Aid in inducing labor
- Prepare new mothers for before, during and after pregnancy

- Hospital delivery room
- Physician’s offices
- Community clinics
By 2020, the U.S. will have a shortage of 800,000 nurses, according to Johnson and Johnson Company.
